R Ashwin and Jos Buttler have come a long way since their memorable verbal sparring in IPL 2019 over a run out at the non-striker’s end. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) brought the two cricketers together ahead of the IPL 2022 when the Indian spinner was bought for INR 5 crores in the mega auction.
Since then, Ashwin and Buttler have practiced together, batted together in the middle when RR promoted Ashwin to number three in a few games, and even participated in video interviews.
The latest chapter between Ashwin and Buttler’s friendship came when Buttler asked the Indian veteran to sign his RR jerseys, which Ashwin gladly did.
In a video shared to RR’s official Twitter account with the caption: “These two,” Ashwin was seen signing not one, but multiple RR jerseys worn by the right-handed batter.
Buttler won six honors in the IPL 2022 tournament awards. He won the Orange Cap for the most runs in IPL 2022, scoring 863 runs at an average of 57.53 and a strike rate of 149.05, with four centuries and 4 half-centuries in the season.
This is the second-most runs scored by a batter in a single IPL edition in the tournament’s history, beating David Warner’s 848 runs in IPL 2016 and behind Virat Kohli’s 973 runs in the same tournament in 2016.
On the other hand, Ashwin had a mixed bag. He made decent contributions with the bat, including a maiden T20 half-century, but managed only 12 wickets in 17 games.
