The Rajasthan Royals will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 47th game of the IPL 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rajasthan have had a good run in the season so far as they habe given some tough fights to their opponents. In the nine games played, RR have six victories as they have their place intact in the upper half of the points table.
After suffering a defeat in the game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday evening, the Royals will look to get back to winning ways and find a good redemption for the loss. The team’s top-order duo can be destructive if Devdutt Padikkal regains his form and supports Jos Buttler. The middle-order will have to work on staying on the field for long and add some important runs on board.
Here’s the predicted Playing XI of Rajasthan Royals for Match 47 of IPL 2022:
Openers: Jos Buttler & Devdutt Padikkal
Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal are a dynamic combo who have established themselves as formidable starters for the teams that they’ve represented so far. After Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to put up a performance, Padikkal was promoted up the order, and he has appeared comfortable thus far in the event.
Despite the fact that both players struggled in their last game, Buttler managed to score a 52-ball 67 and has already hit three centuries to become the Royals’ most valuable player. While he will look to continue his good form, Padikkal will be expected to support him longer in the game.
Middle-Order: Sanju Samson (c & wk), Daryl Mitchell, Shimron Hetmyer
After being given an ideal platform by the openers, the wicketkeeper-batter and the captain of the side- Samson, has come up with some solid cameos in the past few games. He has added some fine runs in the top order but struggles to go long in the game. His quickies prove to be useful, but some fine knocks would prove to be an added advantage for the team.
Daryl Mitchell was roped into the team recently and thus has not been able to add many runs with the bat. He brings a lot of experience to the side, and he will be expected to put that into use when he walks out into the field. If at a stage the Royals’ are settled into the game, some quick-fire runs from Mitchell will be an added benifit. Hetmyer has an average of 58.25 in the nine games that he has played so far, and strikes at a rate of 159.59. He has strategized his game well and provided the finishing touches to the team’s scoreboard on occasions.
All-rounders: Riyan Parag & Ravichandran Ashwin
After struggling for some time, Riyan Parag was able to bring up his first IPL half-century this season as he slammed an unbeaten 56 against the RCB, after the top and middle-order failed to add many runs on board. He then failed to score runs in his recent game against MI, but he can be a useful asset for the team.
Ravi Ashwin has been one of the most successful purchases for the Royals and has even batted in the top order for the team. His tactics with the bat, as well as the ball, is what the team requires in the middle as Ashwin has the ability to pick wickets and add crucial runs on board.
Bowlers: Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Sen
For quite a few years in the past, RR has struggled to get a good bowling combination. However, the scenario is completely opposite this year. Their bowling attack can prove to be a nightmare for the opposition batters. The bowlers have done a great job in restricting the opposition to low totals, and have also saved the game for the team during the death overs.
Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna have been a great combination for the powerplay as they have provided regular breakthrough to the team, and put the opposition under trouble by restricting them to a low total in the first six overs. Kuldeep Sen, the new entrant to the side, has proved his worth as a death bowler for the team.
The spin-bowling duo of Chahal and Ashwin has worked wonders for their side, with the former taking hold of the Purple Cap this season- for the most number of wickets so far. Chahal’s best performance came against the Kolkata Knight Riders when he scalped a hat-trick and converted it into a five-wicket haul. He has been the go-to bowler for the skipper this time.
Predicted Playing XI: Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Daryl Mitchell, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen
