Pat Cummins turned 29 on May 8.
The Kolkata Knight Riders IPL 2022 campaign is hanging by a thread after their huge 75-run loss to the Lucknow Super Giants. They would now be hoping to make amends against the Mumbai Indians in their next encounter at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on May 9.
While two-time champions got only a day off ahead of their next encounter against the Mumbai Indians, they decided to make the most of it by celebrating one of their overseas superstar’s birthdays. Australian Test skipper and one of KKR’s key players Pat Cummins turned 29 on May 8 and he got a wonderful cake for the occasion from the franchise.
KKR celebrate Pat Cummins’ birthday
In a video posted by the Kolkata Knight Riders on their official Twitter handle, all the members of the franchise including head coach Brendon McCullum and CEO Venky Mysore were seen celebrating Pat Cummins’ birthday in the team hotel as the Aussie speedster cut the cake. The cake was also a unique one with a layout of a cricket stadium and the floodlights. Right in the middle, a chocolate figure of Cummins has been designed.
“Nothing like an IPL birthday”, Cummins was heard saying in the video.

Pat Cummins was bought back by Kolkata for the ongoing season. He missed the first few games due to Cricket Australia (CA)’s central contracts rules. Nonetheless, the tall cricketer made a great first impression against MI with a whirlwind knock of an unbeaten 15-ball 56, which not only turned out to be a match-winning one but also earned him a Player of the Match award.
However, the 29-year-old has not been able to showcase any exceptional performances thereafter. It remains to be seen whether the Australian bowling all-rounder will get a chance to feature in the playing XI against Mumbai. Meanwhile, KKR currently occupy the second-last spot in the points table with just four victories from 11 matches with eight points to their tally.
