Rinku Singh from Aligarh emerged as a hero for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their 7-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 47 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 in Mumbai on Monday (May 2).
Chasing the target of 153 runs, Rinku, who came in to bat at number 5, played a fiery innings of unbeaten 42 runs in just 23 balls and ensured the win for his side. He smashed 6 fours and 1 six to help KKR register their fourth win of the season, after suffering five straight losses.
Rinku stitched a crucial unbeaten 66 runs partnership with Nitish Rana, who scored 48* runs. His heroics also earned him the Player of the Match award and he was lauded by many for his innings.
However, after the match Rinku revealed that he had a feeling that he will get Player of the Match award. He had also written ’50’ on his palm ahead of the game.
The official Twitter account of KKR posted a video of the conversation between Rana and Rinku. In the video, the Aligarh batter can be seen telling his teammate that he wanted to be the Player of the Match and was waiting for a long time to win the award.
Here’s is how the duo’s conversation went:
Rana: “What have you written (on your hands)?”
Singh: “I was getting a feel that I will score runs and get Player of the Match today. And I wrote 50 runs on my hand and drew a heart.”
Rana: “When did you write this?”
Singh: “Before the match today.”
Rana: “How did you know that you will score this much today?”
Singh: “I was waiting for a long time to get a Player of the Match. It came after 5 years but it came at last.”
