RCB moved to the fourth spot in the points table after this win, keeping playoffs hopes alive.

The 49th match of the IPL 2022 witnessed a clash between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings. Though CSK had already defeated RCB once in the tournament, they were dusted out this time as RCB won the match by 13 runs to put curtains on CSK’s campaign this season.
Faf du Plessis (38 off 22) and Virat Kohli (30 off 33) got the team off to a great start, scoring 57 runs off the powerplay. Moeen Ali, on the other hand, wreaked havoc, removing both openers with the run out of Glenn Maxwell (3 off 3) sandwiched in between. After the 10th over, Rajat Patidar (21 off 15) and Mahipal Lomror were the spearheads for RCB to set the stage for a challenging score.
In the death overs, Dwaine Pretorius had a terrible time, missing to strike his yorker on a regular basis. Lomror (42 off 27) produced a brilliant innings, attacking everybody who crossed his way, but things turned around in the 19th over. Theekshana resurrected the Super Kings’ rhythm with an over consisting of three wickets and just two runs. However. Dinesh Karthik’s 26* off 17 pushed the Red Army to post 173 runs on the board.
RCB ends CSK’s hopes of qualifying for the playoffs
Ruturaj Gaikwad (28 off 23) got off to a rough start, but Devon Conway got into business with his top-notch batting skills. Despite a poor start, CSK managed to put up 51 runs in the powerplay, but little did they know about the forthcoming landslide. Gaikwad’s dismissal was followed by Robin Uthappa (1 off 3) walking off the field. CSK found itself in a terrible situation when Ambati Rayudu (10 off 8) was bowled out by Maxwell due to a lack of foot movement.
Maxwell and Shahbaz Ahmed kept things tight for CSK, restricting them from hitting the big shots, thus not conceding many runs as they made most of the opportunity by hitting the correct lengths. The game was still level with Conway (56 off 37) out there, but his innings shattered when he hit the ball aiming to get over the fence, but eventually was caught. Moeen Ali also struggled to get going in his innings and CSK’s hopes were crushed when Ali (34 off 27) and MS Dhoni (2 off 3) were dismissed and RCB won the game by 13 runs.
